ALBERTA

AB is part of Western Canada and is one of the three Prairie provinces. Alberta is bordered by British Columbia to the west, Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories (NWT) to the north, and the US State of Montana to the south.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

BC is the westernmost province of Canada, situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains. It has a diverse geography, with rugged landscapes that include rocky coastlines, sandy beaches, forests, lakes, mountains, inland deserts and grassy plains, and borders the province of Alberta to the east and the Yukon and Northwest Territories to the north.

MANITOBA

MB is Canada’s fifth-most populous province, with a population of 1,342,153 as of 2021, of widely varied landscape, from arctic tundra and the Hudson Bay coastline in the north to dense boreal forest, large freshwater lakes, and prairie grassland in the central and southern regions.

NEW BRUNSWICK

NB is one of the three Maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces. It is the only province with both English and French as its official languages.

New Brunswick is bordered by Quebec to the north, Nova Scotia to the east, the Gulf of Saint Lawrence to the northeast, the Bay of Fundy to the southeast, and the U.S. state of Maine to the west. New Brunswick is about 83% forested and its northern half is occupied by the Appalachians. The province’s climate is continental with snowy winters and temperate summers.

NEW FOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

NL is the easternmost province of Canada, in the country’s Atlantic region. It is made up of the island of Newfoundland and the continental region of Labrador, having a total size of 405,212 square kilometers (156,500 sq. mi). The province’s population was expected to be 521,758 in 2021. The island of Newfoundland (and its neighboring smaller islands) is home to around 94 per cent of the province’s population, with more than half residing in the Avalon Peninsula.

In the 2016 census, 97.0 per cent of people reported English (Newfoundland English) as their mother tongue, making it Canada’s most linguistically homogeneous province.

NOVA SCOTIA

NS is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is one of the three Maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces. Nova Scotia is Latin for “New Scotland”.

Most of the population are native English-speakers and the province’s population is 969,383 according to the 2021 Census. It is the most populous of Canada’s Atlantic provinces.

ONTARIO

Located in Central Canada, it is Canada’s most populous province, with 38.3 percent of the country’s population, and is the second-largest province by total area (after Quebec).Ontario is Canada’s fourth-largest jurisdiction in total area when the territories of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are included. It is home to the nation’s capital city, Ottawa, and the nation’s most populous city, Toronto, which is also Ontario’s provincial capital.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

It is the smallest province in terms of land area and population, but the most densely populated. The island has several nicknames: “Garden of the Gulf”, “Birthplace of Confederation” and “Cradle of Confederation”. Its capital and largest city is Charlottetown. It is one of the three Maritime provinces and one of the four Atlantic provinces.

SASKATCHEWAN

 It is a province in western Canada, bordered on the west by Alberta, on the north by the Northwest Territories, on the east by Manitoba, to the northeast by Nunavut, and on the south by the U.S. states of Montana and North Dakota. Saskatchewan and Alberta are the only landlocked provinces of Canada. In 2022, Saskatchewan’s population was estimated at 1,186,308. Nearly 10% of Saskatchewan’s total area of 651,900 square kilometers (251,700 sq mi) is fresh water, mostly rivers, reservoirs and lakes.
